Advertising and marketing yourself as a professional locksmith when you are only just starting out, as with any other kind of business, takes time. As phone books such as Yellow Pages are only published once a year, you may initially have to resort to other ways to get noticed such as newspaper advertisements and word of mouth. You could also set up a website or print business cards or flyers, all of which can be done for relatively little outlay. If you’re comfortable with the internet, further possibilities online include even setting up a Facebook Fan Page, blog or Twitter Page.
There is a high degree of competition for work amongst new traders and as such, it is imperative that you are proactive in your new role as a mobile locksmith as soon as you have completed your locksmith training. Potential sources of work to begin with, suitable for those relatively inexperienced or just starting out, include companies providing sub-contract work, but again, be warned about the intense competition for these. There is, after all, no shortage of locksmiths and locksmithing in general – just of those with a higher level and wide range of skills.
